Telephone orderline

The orderline line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To place an order for your prescription, please call 01670 823000

We require two working days to process your prescription and we will send this electronically to your nominated pharmacy for processing. Please note the pharmacy will have their own processing time to get your medication ready for you to collect. We recommend that you order your prescription in plenty of time to ensure that you do not run out.

Dispensing

For many years the Gables had a branch surgery at Cambois which dispensed medication to our Cambois patients. This has now moved to our main site in Bedlington Station. We will continue to dispense to our Cambois patients from here and will continue to offer a delivery service to those who need it.

Please note we can only dispense to patients who live in the Cambois area.  You will be advised when you register if we can dispense your medication.  As with repeat prescriptions, please allow 2 working days.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked at least once a year to review these; certain medication may require more regular review. A notification message should appear on your repeat prescription slip when one is due.

Medication reviews are undertaken by the GP, Nurse Practitioner or Pharmacist and can either be a face-to-face appointment or alternatively more are being undertaken over the telephone as a telephone consultation.

There are a couple of exceptions where our nursing staff will review medication if you attend one of our specialist clinics e.g. diabetes or asthma but it is always good to check if you are not sure.

As soon as you get this message on your prescription slip and to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions please book an appointment which could be a telephone consultation or a face-to-face appointment.

Important: Medication reviews will not be undertaken in our afternoon sit and wait surgery.

Repeat Dispensing

If you, or someone you care for, use the same medicines regularly, you may be able to benefit from repeat dispensing from your pharmacist.  This means you won't have to contact the surgery every time you need more medicines.

Prescribing of Over The Counter Medicines is Changing

Your GP, nurse or pharmacist will not generally give you a prescription for over the counter medicines for a range of minor health concerns.

Instead, over the counter medicines are available to buy in a pharmacy or supermarket in your local community.
